Illustration of two heroes in separate post-apocalyptic settings, in a platform game on a phone

The problem

Within a multinational company's project, the plan was a mobile platform game set in a post-apocalyptic world. The challenge designed for the player was to control two heroes at the same time, each in a different setting, using the same on-screen buttons, with the goal of saving the world.

What was agreed

Prioritized scope
A mobile platform game set in a post-apocalyptic world. The scope covered the game and its core mechanic: two heroes in different settings, controlled at the same time by the same on-screen buttons, on a mission to save the world.

What was delivered

A mobile game where each tap on the screen moves both heroes at the same time.

Who it’s for

The game is for people who play on their phones. It was developed within a multinational company’s project.

How it works

A platform game is the genre in which the character moves through settings with platforms and obstacles. Here, since both heroes respond to the same buttons, the challenge is to guide both at once, each in its own setting.

The technology, in plain words

  • Unity 3D: a game engine, a tool for creating 2D and 3D games for phones, computers and consoles; it was the base for building the game.
  • C#: a programming language from Microsoft, used to program games in Unity; the game’s logic was written in it.

How it went

  1. Assessment

    At the start

An initial conversation to understand the client's request and problem.

  2. Discovery Sprint

    Before building

The problem was understood and the scope defined.

  3. Development

    In 2016

Built in incremental releases throughout the project, not all at the end.

  4. Support and continuous improvement

    After going live

The game then moved into support and maintenance.
