The problem

Within an initiative of a multinational company, the plan was a multiplayer mobile game of gladiator battles in an arena. The idea was for players connected to the same network to create a local room and play matches with each other.

What was agreed

Prioritized scope
A multiplayer mobile game of gladiator battles in an arena. The scope covered two pieces: the game, with the battles in the arena, and the creation of local rooms, which bring players connected to the same network together in a match.

What was delivered

A mobile game where players set up their own local room and face each other in battles in the arena.

Who it’s for

The game is for people who want to play on their phones with others, in multiplayer matches. It was part of an initiative of a multinational company.

How it works

One player creates the local room, and anyone connected to the same network joins it; the match takes place among those players.

The technology, in plain words

  • Unity 3D: a game engine, a tool for creating 2D and 3D games for phones, computers and consoles; it was the base for developing the game.
  • C#: a programming language from Microsoft, used to program games in Unity; the game’s logic was written in it.

How it went

  1. Assessment

    At the start

An initial conversation to understand the client's request and problem.

  2. Discovery Sprint

    Before building

The problem was understood and the scope defined.

  3. Development

    In 2016

Built in incremental releases throughout the project, not all at the end.

  4. Support and continuous improvement

    After going live

The game then moved into support and maintenance.
