The problem

During a multinational manufacturer's audit processes, the quality assurance (QA) teams needed to manage documents and files. The company needed a system to support those teams in that work.

What was agreed

Prioritized scope
The project covered the whole application, in both of its parts: the front end, the interface the QA teams use, and the back end, the part that runs on the server.

What was delivered

The quality teams have a system of their own for managing documents and files during audits.

Who it’s for

The system was built for the quality assurance (QA) teams of a multinational manufacturer.

How it works

Quality management is the set of processes and documents a company uses to look after quality. Audits are one part of that work, and that is where the system comes in.

QA teams work through the interface. The back end, behind it, handles what the interface requests.

The technology, in plain words

  • AngularJS: a JavaScript framework for building web interfaces that run in the browser; in this system, it is the base of the front end.
  • JavaScript: the programming language of the web, which gives pages behavior in the browser and also runs on servers; in this system, it is in both parts of the application.
  • LoopBack: a Node.js framework for building APIs, the doorways through which the interface requests and receives data from the server; in this system, it is the base of the back end.

How it went

  1. Assessment

    At the start

An initial conversation to understand the client's request and problem.

  2. Discovery Sprint

    Before building

The problem was understood and the scope defined.

  3. Development

    Between 2017 and 2019

Built in incremental releases throughout the project, not all at the end.

  4. Support and continuous improvement

    After going live

The system then moved into support and maintenance.
