The problem
The goal was a mobile app for health and wellness monitoring. For that, the app had to connect to wearable devices, collect biometric metrics from them and, with those metrics, show users their own health routine.
What was agreed
- Prioritized scope
- The mobile health and wellness monitoring app; the app's connection to wearable devices; the collection of biometric metrics from those devices; and the presentation of the user's health routine in the app.
What was delivered
Users follow their own health routine on their phones.
Who it’s for
The app is for people who use wearable devices and want to follow their own health and wellness on their phones.
How it works
First, the app connects to the wearables. Next, it collects biometric metrics from them, that is, body measurements captured by the devices. Finally, it uses them to build the health routine the user sees.
The technology, in plain words
- Ionic: a framework, that is, a ready-made code base, for building mobile apps with web technologies such as HTML, CSS and JavaScript. The app was built with it.
- TypeScript: a language created by Microsoft that adds types to JavaScript, which helps catch errors in the code before it runs. It is the language the app was written in.
How it went
Assessment
At the start
An initial conversation to understand the client's request and problem.
Discovery Sprint
Before building
The problem was understood and the scope defined.
Development
Between 2017 and 2019
Built in incremental releases throughout the project, not all at the end.
Support and continuous improvement
After going live
The app then moved into support and maintenance.
