Illustration of an Android phone with a reseller app showing a list of sales and deliveries

The problem

A cooking gas distributor's main app is a marketplace for selling and delivering household gas (LPG) to consumers. Store owners and distributors needed an app of their own to manage their sales and deliveries. That app had to be part of the same ecosystem as the main app.

What was agreed

Prioritized scope
An Android app just for the brand's store owners and distributors, in which each reseller manages their sales and their deliveries, integrated into the ecosystem of the main app.

What was delivered

Each store owner and distributor manages their own sales and deliveries on the phone, in an app just for resellers.

Who it’s for

The app is just for the brand’s resellers. End consumers do not use this app: they buy through the main app.

How it works

The two apps are part of the same ecosystem, one on each side of the sale. In the main app, consumers buy household gas (LPG, liquefied petroleum gas) and get it delivered; the reseller app is the side of those who sell and deliver.

The technology, in plain words

  • Android: Google’s operating system for phones and tablets. The reseller app was built for it.
  • Java: a general-purpose programming language, for many years the main language for building Android apps. It was one of the two languages used in the app.
  • Kotlin: a programming language compatible with Java, officially supported by Google for building Android apps. It was the other language used in the app.

How it went

  1. Assessment

    At the start

An initial conversation to understand the client's request and problem.

  2. Discovery Sprint

    Before building

The problem was understood and the scope defined.

  3. Development

    Between 2017 and 2019

Built in incremental releases throughout the project, not all at the end.

  4. Support and continuous improvement

    After going live

The app then moved into support and maintenance.
